The key equity barometers traded with marginal gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23150-22914. Nifty IT, Nifty Media and Nifty Metal shares advanced, while Nifty FMCG and Nifty Healthcare Index shares retreated.

NIFTY had surged 1.66% in last session and lost 0.52% over last one-week.

At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, edged higher by 332.49 points or 0.45% to 74,648.10. The Nifty 50 index moved higher by 112.90 points or 0.49% to 23,110.25.

The broader market lagged behind the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index posted modest losses of 0.05% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index inched up 0.17%.

The market breadth was encouraging. On the BSE, 2758 shares rose and 2051 shares declined. A total of 270 shares were unchanged.

Nifty IT index gained 2.92% to 31616. The index has posted modest gains of 3.94% in last one month and slipped 13.23% over last one year. Tech Mahindra, climbing 8.15%, led the gainers followed by Wipro, moving higher 5.64% and Infosys, inching higher 3.78%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 8 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Media index rallied 1.41% to 1640. The index has gained 7.53% in last one month and inched up 5.06% over last one year. Tips Music, advancing 5.93%, led the gainers followed by Prime Focus, strengthening 5.39% and Nazara Technolo., up 1.45%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 7 are reporting gains today.

Nifty FMCG index edged lower by 0.85%. The index has posted modest losses of 0.09% in last one month and registered heavy losses of 18.19% over last one year. Britannia Inds., easing 2.12%, led the losers followed by Tata Consumer, down 1.58% and Nestle India, losing 1.36%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 12 are reporting loss today.

Asian markets climbed on Friday. China’s Shanghai composite is marginally lower by 0.40%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is marginally higher by 0.33%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is sharply higher by 1.39%.

In Europe, German DAX eased 0.02%, UK’s FTSE 100 added 1.08% and French CAC moved up 0.78%.

In Commodities, MCX Gold is up 0.72% to trade at Rs 1,47,551 per 10 grams. MCX Copper ticked up 0.63% to trade at Rs 1,399.35 per kg.
