The key equity barometers traded with steady gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23344-23212. Nifty Metal, Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty PSU Bank shares advanced.

At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, advanced 1074.23 points or 1.44% to 75,533.76. The Nifty 50 index rose 281.15 points or 1.22% to 23,334.25.

The broader market failed to keep pace with frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index gained 1.17% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index rallied 1.68%.

The market breadth was encouraging. On the BSE, 3224 shares advanced and 1490 shares fell. A total of 262 shares were unchanged.

Nifty Metal index rallied 2.17% to 12040. The index has fallen 7.65% in last one month and moved higher by 9.84% over last one year. Tata Steel, inching higher 4.62%, led the gainers followed by Jindal Steel, gaining 3.86% and S A I L, up 3.07%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 14 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Consumer Durables index gained 2.13% to 35260. The index has lost 5.74% in last one month and declined 11.26% over last one year. Dixon Technolog., spiking 10.33%, led the gainers followed by Amber Enterp., moving higher 5.38% and Kajaria Ceramics, adding 3.30%, respectively. Out of 14 index constituents, 13 are reporting gains today.

Nifty PSU Bank index advanced 1.34% to 8345. The index has moved higher by 2.73% in last one month and added 2.19% over last one year. Bank of Baroda, edging up 3.52%, led the gainers followed by Pun. & Sind Bank, adding 2.30% and SBI, gaining 2.17%, respectively. Out of 12 index constituents, 10 are reporting gains today.

All 14 sectoral indices on NSE are trading in the green today. Nifty Metal index has recorded steep losses of 7.65% in last one month and has soared 9.84% over last year. Nifty Private Bank index has added 1.34% in last one month and is modestly lower by 4.28% over last one year.

From NIFTY50 index, Vedanta Power, Motherson Wiring AND JP Power Ven. are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 3152.25 lakh shares, 3373.57 lakh shares and 886.92 lakh shares respectively.

Asian markets advanced on Monday. China’s Shanghai composite is trading higher by 0.71%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is higher by 0.60%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is modestly higher by 0.04%.
