The key equity barometers traded with modest gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 22804-22653. Nifty Media, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Healthcare Index shares rose, while Nifty IT shares fell.

At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, down 16.53 points to 73,590.22. The Nifty 50 index up 7.30 points to 22,760.50.

The broader market performed better than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index advanced 0.96% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index climbed 1.47%.

The market breadth was well-supported. On the BSE, 3302 shares gained and 1223 shares declined. A total of 234 shares were unchanged.

Nifty Media index registered sharp gains of 3.18% to 1608. The index has inched higher by 1.22% in last one month and added 1.43% over last one year. Sun TV Network, climbing 8.19%, led the gainers followed by Prime Focus, adding 4.61% and Netwrk.18 Media, gaining 4.57%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Pharma index rose 1.79% to 26235. The index has posted modest losses of 3.69% in last one month and jumped 15.53% over last one year. Mankind Pharma, moving higher 8.25%, led the gainers followed by Gland Pharma, inching higher 4.06% and Divi's Lab., edging up 3.54%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 19 are reporting gains today.

Nifty IT index slipped 1.83%. The index has jumped 14.91% in last one month and declined 10.67% over last one year. TCS, edging lower 2.21%, led the losers followed by Infosys, down 2.12% and Coforge, slipping 1.65%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.

Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 12 are in green today. Nifty Media index has risen 1.22% in last one month and is slightly higher by 1.43% over last year. Nifty IT index has recorded robust gains of 14.91% in last one month and has posted steep losses of 10.67% over last one year.

From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, Ola Electric AND Yes Bank are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 907.15 lakh shares, 2353.35 lakh shares and 358.7 lakh shares respectively.

Asian markets posted modest gains on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is modestly lower by 0.32%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is lower by 0.83%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is significantly higher by 1.86%.

NIFTY50 Oct-26 futures are in discount of 25.40 points today.
