The key equity barometers traded with limited losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 22651-22354. Nifty Media, Nifty Auto and Nifty Realty shares rose, while Nifty FMCG and Nifty PSU Bank shares declined.

NIFTY had gained 1.30% in last session and slumped 3.89% over last one-week.

At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, inched down 521.87 points or 0.72% to 71,950.46. The Nifty 50 index lost 162.85 points or 0.72% to 22,357.60.

The broader market performed better than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index moved higher by 0.32% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index advanced 1.11%.

The market breadth was favorable. On the BSE, 2528 shares gained and 2377 shares retreated. A total of 306 shares were unchanged.

Nifty Media index surged 3.36% to 1606. The index has inched higher by 1.76% in last one month and moved lower by 0.27% over last one year. Prime Focus, climbing 9.55%, led the gainers followed by Tips Music, rising 7.32% and Zee Entertainmen, moving higher 5.94%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Auto index inched up 0.57% to 25001. The index has suffered sharp declines of 10.10% in last one month and edged lower by 6.50% over last one year. Bajaj Auto, adding 2.89%, led the gainers followed by TVS Motor Co., gaining 1.70% and Bosch, up 1.05%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 11 are reporting gains today.

Nifty FMCG index shed 1.56%. The index has posted modest losses of 0.98% in last one month and recorded sharp losses of 17.99% over last one year. ITC, slipping 2.67%, led the losers followed by Dabur India, easing 2.07% and United Breweries, edging lower 1.65%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 14 are reporting loss today.

Asian markets were marginally lower on Monday. China’s Shanghai composite is slightly lower by 0.45%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is modestly higher by 0.12%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is modestly lower by 0.02%.

In Europe, German DAX ticked up 0.16%, UK’s FTSE 100 added 1.06% and French CAC moved up 0.95%.

In Commodities, MCX Gold eased 0.83% to trade at Rs 1,51,532 per 10 grams. MCX Crude oil shed 1.37% to trade at Rs 8,892 per barrel.
