The key equity barometers traded with limited gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 22672-22562. Nifty Private Bank, Nifty Metal and Nifty Chemicals shares advanced, while Nifty IT shares declined.

At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, edged higher by 352.66 points or 0.49% to 72,735.13. The Nifty 50 index added 114.55 points or 0.51% to 22,670.30.

The broader market underperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index moved higher by 0.80% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index gained 0.81%.

The market breadth was favorable. On the BSE, 3063 shares advanced and 1550 shares fell. A total of 268 shares were unchanged.

Nifty Private Bank index rallied 1.05% to 26998. The index has drifted lower by 3.70% in last one month and inched down 2.81% over last one year. Kotak Mah. Bank, up 3.70%, led the gainers followed by IndusInd Bank, gaining 2.01% and Axis Bank, adding 1.23%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 4 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Metal index climbed 1% to 12624. The index has slipped by 4.98% in last one month and jumped 22.70% over last one year. Vedanta, edging up 3.71%, led the gainers followed by S A I L, inching higher 2.36% and Lloyds Metals, up 2.25%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 14 are reporting gains today.

Nifty IT index edged lower by 0.87%. The index has retreated 5.65% in last one month and registered heavy losses of 18.49% over last one year. Tech Mahindra, down 1.65%, led the losers followed by Persistent Systems, slipping 0.89% and Infosys, edging lower 0.88%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.

Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 13 are in green today. Nifty Private Bank index has suffered sharp declines of 3.70% in last one month and is marginally lower by 2.81% over last year. Nifty IT index is sharply lower by 5.65% in last one month and has slumped 18.49% over last one year.

From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, ITC AND Swiggy are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 1544.08 lakh shares, 19566.8 lakh shares and 9697.99 lakh shares respectively.

Asian markets jumped on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is marginally higher by 0.31%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is ahead by 0.74%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is higher by 0.83%.
