The key equity barometers traded with marginal gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 22772-22660. Nifty Media, Nifty IT and Nifty Chemicals shares rose, while Nifty Healthcare Index and Nifty Pharma shares retreated.

At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, up 206.64 points to 72,735.71. The Nifty 50 index inched up 7.55 points or 0.03% to 22,723.75.

The broader market failed to keep pace with frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index edged higher by 0.07% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.28%.

The market breadth was healthy. On the BSE, 2832 shares advanced and 1792 shares declined. A total of 253 shares were unchanged.

Nifty Media index rallied 2.73% to 1583. The index has eased by 1.05% in last one month and posted modest losses of 1.35% over last one year. Sun TV Network, advancing 8.05%, led the gainers followed by Saregama India, adding 3.09% and Nazara Technolo., up 2.92%, respectively. All 9 constituents are advancing today.

Nifty IT index climbed 2.23% to 28286. The index has registered heavy losses of 11.29% in last one month and plunged 17.88% over last one year. Coforge, gaining 4.66%, led the gainers followed by Oracle Fin.Serv., edging up 3.89% and TCS, inching higher 2.94%, respectively. All 10 constituents are advancing today.

Nifty Healthcare Index index retreated 1.99%. The index has inched lower by 2.24% in last one month and spiked 17.10% over last one year. Apollo Hospitals, moving lower 5.19%, led the losers followed by Fortis Health., edging lower 4.99% and Max Healthcare, easing 3.97%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 18 are reporting loss today.

Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 11 are in green today. Nifty Media index has declined 1.05% in last one month and is slightly lower by 1.35% over last year. Nifty Healthcare Index index has plunged 2.24% in last one month and has registered sharp gains of 17.10% over last one year.

From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, Vedanta Iron & Steel AND Cupid are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 1376.55 lakh shares, 2926.83 lakh shares and 10053.96 lakh shares respectively.

Asian markets recorded robust advances on Wednesday. China’s Shanghai composite is modestly higher by 0.20%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is down 0.18%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is sharply higher by 1.87%.

NIFTY50 Oct-26 futures are in discount of 103.25 points today.
