The key equity barometers traded with minor losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 22753-22570. Nifty Pharma, Nifty Metal and Nifty Healthcare Index shares advanced, while Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty Chemicals shares retreated.

NIFTY posted steep losses of 1.56% in last session and plunged 5.77% over last one-week.

At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, inched down 211.41 points or 0.29% to 72,560.31. The Nifty 50 index moved lower by 38.40 points or 0.17% to 22,741.85.

The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index edged lower by 0.32% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.03%.

The market breadth was negative. On the BSE, 2272 shares rose and 2581 shares fell. A total of 238 shares were unchanged.

Nifty Pharma index moved higher by 0.50% to 26895. The index has inched lower by 0.85% in last one month and recorded robust gains of 24.62% over last one year. Abbott India, gaining 3.12%, led the gainers followed by Mankind Pharma, edging up 2.85% and Gland Pharma, adding 2.38%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 15 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Metal index edged higher by 0.35% to 12900. The index has posted modest losses of 4.96% in last one month and registered sharp gains of 29.54% over last one year. Welspun Corp, inching higher 2.10%, led the gainers followed by Lloyds Metals, up 1.75% and Adani Enterp., gaining 0.71%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 11 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Consumer Durables index moved lower by 0.96%. The index has lost 5.87% in last one month and added 1.93% over last one year. Havells India, edging lower 2.20%, led the losers followed by Whirlpool India, down 2.02% and Amber Enterp., losing 1.92%, respectively. Out of 13 index constituents, 11 are reporting loss today.

Asian markets posted modest losses on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is marginally higher by 0.30%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is modestly lower by 0.39%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading lower by 0.60%.

In Europe, German DAX slipped 0.36%, UK’s FTSE 100 drifted lower 0.10% and French CAC remained flat.

In Commodities, MCX Crude oil inched up 1.15% to trade at Rs 8,931 per barrel.
