Public sector Oil Marketing Companies to have special forex facility offered by RBI

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has established a dedicated facility designed to fulfill the complete daily United States dollar needs of three public sector oil marketing companies – Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). As detailed in an RBI press release, the central bank will provide United States dollars to the aforementioned entities via designated banking channels to satisfy their foreign exchange obligations. This facility will commence operations tomorrow and will remain in effect until additional notice. The RBI indicated that this measure was determined through an evaluation of current market dynamics and is intended to streamline the foreign exchange necessities of the three state-owned oil marketing companies.
