Government ensures availability of Onions at affordable prices

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution announced measures to ensure enough onions are available at affordable prices. Buffer onions are being sold at Rs 35 per kg in retail outlets and mobile distribution points in Delhi-NCR. This action responds to current market conditions and aims to improve consumer access, reduce price pressures, and maintain sufficient onion supplies. Onions are being transported by rail and road, and the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) is involved to help with proper storage and distribution of these buffer onions.
